OK, lets get this straight....

Just like a number of other things, fibromyalgia is unique in everybody. Just because one person suffers in one way, doesn't mean that this is a cookie cutter disease, syndrome or whatever you want to call it. Personally, mine, while pretty much controlled by a very good pharmaceutical developed specifically for fibromyalgia, still has quite a few times when it rears its ugly head. I also have carpal tunnel syndrome in both arms, arthritis in both hips and knees, so when it hits, it seems to hit those areas that are more prone to pain in the first place. Right now, I have limited feeling in my pinkie and ring finger of my left hand, which makes things like typing difficult since I type by touch, trying to find the letters a, s, z, and x are fun. On occasion I have the pleasure of feeling like my skin is being washed off in the shower, although that has only happened a couple of times, and the "fibro fog" and dizziness are more of a problem than I would care to admit.

I've been searching, but I can't seem to find common sense...

It's true...common sense has taken a hike and has gotten lost somewhere. Last time I saw it was in the 60's, but even then it had a tendency to get lost at times. I mean, seriously folks, we've totally lost touch with common sense and from what I can tell, it rarely comes back to visit except to a very choice few. Let's look at the logic of common sense. Common sense and logic says that if you drive the wrong way on a one way street, at best you meet someone going the right way and not only do they point out to you the error of your ways, but they point you in the right direction, sometimes with something other than the index finger. At worst, you end up in a nasty accident that gets you or the other driver hurt or, Heaven forbid, killed. That's common sense. I would hope that most of us use common sense in that area, but when I turn on the news or look at my local news here on the net, I still find that some folks refuse to visit common sense and get themselves o

What Dreams may come....

OK, shameless snagging of a movie film title, but it was pretty appropriate for the dream that I had while I slept last night. For the most part, when I dream I rarely remember the details. On the rare occasion that I do remember them, they seldom make sense. This one was so vivid, so intense that I couldn't help but remember it, even six hours later. In the movie that I reference above, Robin Williams experiences Heaven itself after he is killed in an automobile crash. The colors and experiences are beyond what his mortal mind can completely comprehend. In my dream, the colors were fairly normal, but what I saw was something that was beyond my imagination and was so compelling that I think it will be a while if ever that I forget what I saw. In my dream, and this part is a bit sketchy, but I think that I was in a store or a restaurant. Wherever it was there was quite a number of people there. I was with a friend, it is not clear who it was...as I am recounting, there are a f

Apparently the universe doesn't like to be called out...

OK, so maybe I'm a bit of a masochist here, but I am finding out that the universe doesn't like to be called out and have pointed out that it can't win. Yesterday after I wrote my blog, I found that little stuff was popping up. Mostly stuff to annoy me, but its the stuff that annoys me that usually gets me to forget my Walk and gets me to stray off of my goal of staying on Jesus' path. For instance: I was making desserts for my friend's auction yesterday. I saw what looked like an amazing recipe being made on Paula Deen's cooking show the day before so I decided that I would make it. You know, something different than basic cake and frosting, after all, if they're sitting there and "oohing and aahing" over this on the show it must be good, right? Well, after making the recipe and having a taste (I made cupcakes instead of the cake) I could imagine her taking a dishtowel to her tongue to get the taste out, it was that not good, and I followed the

I wish...

Have you ever had one of those days when you woke up in the morning with the absolute certainty that the entire universe is conspiring against you? Its not really the cat in your face (actually, the cat's butt), or the fact that you can't feel your arm because you slept wrong and now the whole thing is numb from the shoulder down, its that gut feeling; that feeling in your stomach that something is going down but you just can't put your finger on it. Whenever I have that feeling, after a major prayer of protection, my first stop in the morning is the computer to check my checking account. I don't know about you, but this doggone fibro fog does a number with my memory. Try as I might, I inevitably forget a bill and manage to over draw my account on occasion, so naturally when that feeling hits me, that's the first thing that I check. After making sure that I didn't forget anything, then I check in with Chris, check up on Andrea to make sure that she isn't d

This is wwwaaayyy off from my normal reading genre....

But. Yeah, I said butt, no, I mean but. I just finished reading a horror novel. Lets just get past this part, I hate horror novels almost as much as I hate snakes. To top this off, this one was about that old cliche, zombies. But, this one had enough humor in it, and the fact that at least once I was part of the inspiration of a small (a very small) portion of the novel, spurred me on to reading it...in less than 24 hours. Now, I won't be sleeping for a week, thank you very much D. Nathan Hilliard. I met Nate when I was waiting tables just recently. I came to find out later on as I would serve up his favorite dessert, a hot fudge sundae, that his wife had cared for Draco at least a couple of times while he was still with us. I re-met his wonderful wife and met his awesome kids during my tenure at the restaurant and realized that the adults, at least, had a wicked sense of humor. I like that about them! Lol! No doubt, when the kids are older (and I have seen some hints that this i

Who knew I could really dislike spiders this much...

Image
Seriously.  I hate spiders. Not as much as some people I know (you know who you are...), but I am not a fan. When there's just a little brown house spider around, I call Chris to come and smash it. When Draco was still alive, he wouldn't allow anyone to kill bugs...I guess he was kind of a nature boy that way. He could kill all the bugs he wanted to, but let us take a paper, shoe or magazine to one, or if the cats had found one and was playing with it before dismembering it, he would fuss and go after whoever was after the bug. Now that he's not around, its kind of quiet except for the occasional  scream from me or the "ewww" from Andrea. Anyway, I bring this up for a reason. Now, mind you, I haven't seen one of these buggers here and I hope I never do, but I had a dream...not a nightmare, a dream (how can it not  be a nightmare, right?) about a banana spider. For those of you who have no idea what the heck a banana spider looks like, well, here it is:
