This Election

Okay...I wasn't going to post anything on this election cycle because of the polarization it might cause, but a friend of mine, in a round about way, has convinced me otherwise.

Let's just put this out there. This is a nasty campaign season. It's ugly. None of the Candidates, in my opinion, are worth their weight in salt. One is a crook. Another is an arrogant blow-hard. Another is a hippie, and the last one is a Hillary wannabe. There's always the option of write-ins, but let's face it, that's a throw-away vote. So what's a Christian to do?

Well, this is only my opinion and you should ultimately decide for yourself, but here's what I think. If you are totally flummoxed by either of the major Candidates, then vote for the platform that most closely ties in with your value system. But don't not vote. Don't stay home and say "my vote doesn't matter," because it does. Yes, the Electoral College makes the decision for the State, but the popular vote comes first. Remember that.

Now that that's out of the way, I've got something else for you. I've been watching this from the beginning. I have to tell you, and I think I have previously said, that I think Donald Trump is an arrogant wind-bag. We have all heard the tapes of his "locker room" banter, and seriously, folks...who hasn't engaged in that kind of talk, whether with a buddy or even to yourself? You'd be a hypocrite to say you never have engaged, because thinking it is pretty close there. No, its not the same as openly saying or doing the said actions, but the thought was there. Face it, we're human. Who out there hasn't thought death and destruction to the moron who just cut you off in traffic? Who out there hasn't wondered if they have an alibi for taking out someone who has totally ticked you off and you want completely out of your life? To God, the thoughts are as much a sin as the actions, so we're all guilty there. So he has the mouth of a sailor/truck driver. At least he's not being investigated by the FBI.

About that...yeah. Its no secret that she is not my favorite homosapien. I think she's a pathological liar who would do or say anything to get what she wants. I think she's slimy. The fact that she supports third trimester abortion sickens me. I guess you could say I don't like her much. But, I have to give you this, she's brilliant...just not brilliant enough. Her health has her in a precarious position. That she cannot control. Too bad she didn't pick a better VP candidate...this one's a doofus.

Okay, enough bashing. I have an observation. Agree or disagree or agree to disagree, that's up to you, but at least hear me out.

Trump. Like him or not, if you're a Christian you have to wonder what on earth God's up to with him. Look at what's happened during the nomination phase. He beat out seasoned, career politicians when he should have been escorted off the stage at worst, laughed off at best. But he has hit a nerve with the American public. We've had enough of politicians. We've had enough promises and no delivery. We've had enough lies and we've had enough of them lining their pockets with raises when those on Social Security have done without cost of living raises for at least three of the last eight years. In 2011, there was no raise; 2012 there was a 3.6% raise; 2013, 1.7%; 2014, 1.5%; 2015, 1.7%; 2016, 0.0% and 2017 is projected to have a 0.3% raise.  Congress, on the other hand has had, according to Wikipedia, a 2.8% COLA from 2009-2014. Really.  Top that off with the fact that our military NCO's live under the poverty level, and, even more...we've all read about the Government wanting military in California to give back bonuses they were offered to re-up. Most of those who accepted went on to serve in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan, some multiple times. Okay, done with that rant, back to Trump. The American public is disillusioned with politicians who are all talk and no action. Their background is talk, promise and don't deliver. Some do, the majority don't. The thing about Trump is that when he says he's going to do something, he does. There's that.

He's survived a brutal nomination phase. He has taken blow after blow from Clinton and the Democratic Party. He has had the Republican Party divide over him. He's had politicians disavow him and then return. His mouth has gone off on too many occasions to count. And yet, there he is.

You have to give him credit for his stamina.

Speaking of stamina, he's got quite a bit, as opposed to Ms. Clinton who has had numerous incidents that are well documented.

With all that has been against him in the last year, a lessor man would have given up long ago, but not Trump. He has gained ground. He has gone from being sorely behind to being neck and neck with Clinton in some polls and possibly ahead in others (Rasmussen Polls show him and Clinton at 45% each). This is not a man who has gotten there by dumb luck. Call it what you want...dumb luck, fate, providence...I call it the Hand of God. Nothing else can explain it. Nothing. We could say that he was a Dark Horse set up by the Clintons to assure her win, but something went wrong in the process...sure, that could be it. But again, explain the reaction of the American public. They're...excuse the expression, pissed. And tired of the rhetoric. They want someone who has something different to say. They have decided to get away from the saying, "insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results." Trump delivers that.

I saw a video from Patricia King the other day. Her guest had a "word" about Donald Trump. He said that he believes that Donald Trump has been anointed by God. That he is a "Silas." Throughout the interview, Patricia King encouraged, even expounded on the fact that this "prophecy" needed to be vetted, to be tested by God's Word. This intrigued me and an interview that I normally would just glance at had my full attention the entire time.

To close, I encourage you to look at the video yourself. www.facebook.com/patriciakingpage/videos/1128534483868234

If you have yet to vote, I encourage you to check the facts. Research the rumors. If the Candidates destroy your faith in humanity, perhaps you can vote on the platform that more accurately reflects your values. But, please, don't stay home and not vote. Your vote is important. I promise. Also, remember the most important thing. No matter who is in the Oval Office, they were allowed to be there by God, and Jesus is still the King.

Be blessed, my Friends!
