The Greatest Love Story

There are a lot of people in the world who believe that God is love. On the other hand, there are a great deal of folks who believe that God is hateful and vengeful. We can pretty much rule out the hateful part, but the love and vengeance is what has most people perplexed.

When we look at God as a loving God, we go all the way back to the book of Genesis, and creation. God decides that He wants fellowship with His Creation and the love that He has for Man is evident. Even with the expulsion from Eden and then Cain's fugitive status after killing Abel, God still showed His love and compassion for Man by allowing Adam and Eve to live, although not in the Garden. His mercy shows in that Cain was not destroyed, and was allowed to have a family, even though he was not allowed to be part of Adam's family group.

He shows His love in keeping the human race alive through Noah and his sons, and their families on the Ark. The rainbow that God set in the sky is a reminder that He keeps His promises.

Through Eve, God promises a Savior that will defeat Satan, and will exact revenge for the way he misled Eve and Adam, and for the rebellion that was led in Heaven.

God shows His love through blessings: He  blesses Adam and Eve with Seth; He blesses Noah and his sons after the Flood; He blesses Abraham and Sarah with Isaac, way after the time of a woman is able to conceive. He saved them from Pharaoh's armies when He caused a dry path through the Red Sea, and then removed the path when the last of His Children had crossed over. He kept them in His care as they wandered the wilderness and defeated the armies of civilizations that came up against them. He loved His Children by setting Laws and Rules for them to follow...not just the Ten Commandments, but dietary laws that kept them from the illnesses and problems of the tribes they defeated.

God shows His love through the prophecies regarding Jesus. He shows the sacrifices that were to be made by Him, and that through belief in Him, and His resurrection, the way to Eternal Life. In fact, the entire Bible is one big love letter from God to us. In the Old Testament He shows His love, mercy, wrath, compassion, vengeance, and discipline. In the New Testament, He shows His love, compassion, blessings, healings, as well as what is to come. He shows Satan's defeat, his judgment, and his eternal damnation. There will be no more sorrow, no more tears. In God's Kingdom, death will no longer have a hold on Mankind. Cancer, hate, deformities, disabilities, violence, hate, division and derision will have no place with Man. Hopelessness will be replaced with hope. Death with life. Hate with agape love.

Folks, when you want a good love story, you have no further to look than your own Bible. Hollywood's version is not nearly as good, trust me.
