A body at rest stays at rest...a body in motion stays in motion...

Or so says Newton's first law. Personally? A body in motion has to stop every once in a while to take some Advil to quash the pain. Meh...such is the life of a person with a chronic pain disorder. However. That doesn't mean that everything stops. Nope. I'm still going. Just call me the Energizer Bunny. Hmm. That really doesn't work either. Okay, let's put it this way, my fingers are doing all the work. I've been going back and forth between a work-in-progress with Kay Ganley, to working on new mandalas for the next coloring book to setting up an Etsy store at the urging of some friends. There is one constant, one linking thing with all of them. I'm still relatively unknown, so my works, whether they're the actual novels I put out or the coloring book, or even the coloring sheets on Etsy, well, they get lost in the abyss of massive amounts of works out there. I looked at my coloring book, for instance. Color Me Mandala: Advanced Mandalas is at a mid...

New book, but not my normal stuff!

Well, I did it. I have another book out. But its not your run of the mill, L. A. Brown book. In fact, its not even a reading book. It's a coloring book. A mandala coloring book. Right now, and that will change hopefully in the next couple of days, its in e-book form, which means if you have a touch-screen, you touch and hold the object you want to print and a pop-up will appear. If you're using the computer, a right clicky-of-the-button will bring up the print option. Either way, you can print off the mandalas to your heart's desire and color away. Now, when the coloring book itself comes out, there are pictures only printed on one side of the page, the other is blank. Why? You ask? Good question, which deserves a good answer. Because, if you use markers or sharpies in your book, there will be bleed-through to the next page (the back of the picture), which would ruin whatever is on the back of the page. All of the mandalas are hand drawn by me, there are no computer i...

New project news

Good morning, Everyone! Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I know that I'm slow in putting new material out, I apologise for that, but I'm excited about an upcoming project. I've teamed with Kay Ganley, author of Lost: It Begins to co-author a new project tentatively called Evelyn.  This book will be one that is unique in its structure. It is a group-authored book, sort of like a group-funding effort, and a work of fiction based on reality. Eleven other people have joined us in creating back stories which will be woven throughout the book. It is about one woman's life of domestic abuse (Evelyn's), and how friends from all over the world work to remove her from the situation. All of the stories are based on real-life experiences, including Evelyn's, and there are a couple of truly fictional characters in there, but back stories have been changed so that the author cannot be recognized. Because of the volatile nature of the stories, these men and wom...

Just as you are. Right where you are.

I have a friend. Well, I actually have a few friends...but I regress. Hmm. Let me put this another way. We all have a friend that pulls our heartstrings. That one friend who doesn't know what their destination is, or even how on earth to get there. They're just moving one foot in front of the other, hoping to get through the next minute, hour, day, month, year. Life hasn't been fair, by any stretch of the imagination for them. They know it, and everyone around them knows it. They may joke. They may make fun of themselves or others. They may drink, smoke or take drugs. They may cut or take extreme chances, but they're trying to find something, anything that fills the emptiness they feel. That emptiness could be the result of losing a spouse, a child or a parent. It could be because of abuse, the reasons are limitless. But, they have one thing in their lives that distinguishes them from anyone else. They  have you. I'm talking to the Christians out there. I'...

Sometimes silence is a good thing.

Yes, sometimes its a good thing, but there are definitely times when you should be suspicious.  For instance: You have toddlers in your house. Silence is not a good thing. Silence with an occasional giggle is definitely time for alarm. Most likely you are going to walk into the next room to find: a) Powdered sugar/flour/cornstarch or some other necessary staple spread from here to breakfast, with little tiny, half naked "ghost" toddlers running, hiding and giggling up a storm. Time to break out the vacuum and bubble bath, or better yet, if its warm outside, break out the sprinkler and let them get the mess off themselves by running through it. Oh, but when whatever it is that they've gotten all over themselves is rinsed off, better break out the sunscreen...don't want sunburned "ghosts." b) Your best make-up spread all over the carpet. Of course said carpet is most likely white or light colored (might want to look into that dark brown your husband is so f...

If it's broke, then fix it...

When I was growing up, there was this thing...if something broke, you fixed it. It didn't matter if it was a clock, a toy, an appliance or what, if it broke, you fixed it, or at least tried to. The same held true for relationships...if there was a problem (broke), you did your best to fix it. As the sixties progressed into the seventies and so on and so forth, things became more disposable. There were paper plates and disposable utensils. A boon to those who hated doing dishes. Things like alarm clocks were cheaper to replace than to fix, although my little brother...man! That kid could take a clock apart, put it back together and it ran like brand new. He was, and still is, a whiz. Diapers became disposable, appliances were priced to replace instead of fix...it seems as if things are produced to break so that when it comes time to fix it, the cost is prohibitive. So you replace. The same holds true for relationships. I have to say, there were a few times that I've been g...

Cat Tales

Image
There are some days I just have to shake my head at my kitty-crew. I mean, as a general rule, cats are pretty amusing. Just take a gander at your news feed on Facebook, or at any of the videos that are offered  on YouTube or even some of the regular News news feeds and you will find an abundance of cat videos and stories from Grumpy Cat to the cat that took off after a bear. Seriously, there is no end to the entertainment these creatures provide. So, most of you know I have a bunch...I got the starter kit from my youngest daughter (Mom, I swear, I found him on the road and he was just crying and, and...can we keep him? Mom, her dad will put the kitten outside and she'll starve to death or get eaten. Can we keep her?), and the race was on to see if I could put a stop to the constant influx of kittens before the next heat. Yeah, I know, I should have fixed him straight away, but who knew that kittens as young as six months could start such an avalanche?? Anyway, I'm down to m...
