The "End of the World" is tomorrow....

Don't forget to lock your doors and take your keys. OK, that was a pretty dumb thing to say, but let's face it, so is the hype about "the end of the world". How many times in the last two hundred years have we heard just that? I mean, really! Nostradamus told us that the world was going to end July 1999. Miller told us the world was going to end on April 23, 1843. Pat Robertson said that the world would end in 1982, he's still making predictions and failing. Harold Camping said that the Judgement would be on September 6, 1994 and went on later to say that the Rapture would occur on May 21, 2011....we're still here.  William Branham said that the world would end in 1977...he was killed by a drunk driver in 1965 and didn't get to see his failed prediction. The Mayan calendar, Haley's Comet, Hale-Bop comet, Branch Davidians, the list goes on and on. Truth is, the "art" of predicting the world's end has been going on since the Ministry...

This has been quite the year....

...and since it's still not quite over, I don't doubt that there are still a few surprises waiting around the corner. I must admit, when we came into this year, all I was really expecting was my new baby granddaughter who was due in March, right around her sister's first birthday. Soooo, little Cutie Patootie made us wait an entire week for her arrival, which pretty much means that we have been suckered into being at her whim probably for the rest of our lives. All she has to do is bat those baby browns, turn up the side of her mouth ever so slightly and I'm giving away the farm. Sis has that ability, too, but she doesn't have it quite down pat as the Little One. I'm doomed to be a pauper. Of course, the first statement is just a bit misleading, because as some of you may know, we were also fostering a soldier's dog until we could get her home to Korea. With a lot of help from friends and United Airlines, Angel got home to her family in February. That wa...

What Dreams may come....

OK, shameless snagging of a movie film title, but it was pretty appropriate for the dream that I had while I slept last night. For the most part, when I dream I rarely remember the details. On the rare occasion that I do remember them, they seldom make sense. This one was so vivid, so intense that I couldn't help but remember it, even six hours later. In the movie that I reference above, Robin Williams experiences Heaven itself after he is killed in an automobile crash. The colors and experiences are beyond what his mortal mind can completely comprehend. In my dream, the colors were fairly normal, but what I saw was something that was beyond my imagination and was so compelling that I think it will be a while if ever that I forget what I saw. In my dream, and this part is a bit sketchy, but I think that I was in a store or a restaurant. Wherever it was there was quite a number of people there. I was with a friend, it is not clear who it was...as I am recounting, there are a f...

This is wwwaaayyy off from my normal reading genre....

But. Yeah, I said butt, no, I mean but. I just finished reading a horror novel. Lets just get past this part, I hate horror novels almost as much as I hate snakes. To top this off, this one was about that old cliche, zombies. But, this one had enough humor in it, and the fact that at least once I was part of the inspiration of a small (a very small) portion of the novel, spurred me on to reading it...in less than 24 hours. Now, I won't be sleeping for a week, thank you very much D. Nathan Hilliard. I met Nate when I was waiting tables just recently. I came to find out later on as I would serve up his favorite dessert, a hot fudge sundae, that his wife had cared for Draco at least a couple of times while he was still with us. I re-met his wonderful wife and met his awesome kids during my tenure at the restaurant and realized that the adults, at least, had a wicked sense of humor. I like that about them! Lol! No doubt, when the kids are older (and I have seen some hints that this i...
