I've been searching, but I can't seem to find common sense...

It's true...common sense has taken a hike and has gotten lost somewhere. Last time I saw it was in the 60's, but even then it had a tendency to get lost at times. I mean, seriously folks, we've totally lost touch with common sense and from what I can tell, it rarely comes back to visit except to a very choice few.

Let's look at the logic of common sense. Common sense and logic says that if you drive the wrong way on a one way street, at best you meet someone going the right way and not only do they point out to you the error of your ways, but they point you in the right direction, sometimes with something other than the index finger. At worst, you end up in a nasty accident that gets you or the other driver hurt or, Heaven forbid, killed. That's common sense. I would hope that most of us use common sense in that area, but when I turn on the news or look at my local news here on the net, I still find that some folks refuse to visit common sense and get themselves or others killed because they don't get it. Common sense, that is.

Common sense says that if you defy the laws of gravity you're going to end up with a nasty bump or part of the pavement...still folks try to defy that whenever they bungee jump (eeee! Not this girl, heights are not this short person's friend).

Common sense says that if you are sexually active outside of marriage that a number of things could happen. STD's, pregnancy, loss of intimacy....just saying.

Common sense says that if you over eat that you are going to have to face the consequences. Weight gain, cholesterol changes, blood pressure issues, diabetes....the list goes on and on and on, kind of like the Energizer Bunny.

On the flip side of the coin, common sense says that if you don't eat there will be weight loss, loss of muscle tissue, loss of electrolytes, heart problems or stroke. Even though this is generally the issue with eating disorders, when one is trying to lose weight, one must do so with, yeah, you're getting it now.....Common Sense.

When you were a kid, if you disobeyed your parents the consequences were revoking of privileges, spankings or time outs. Disobeying the law resulted in loss of privileges such as driving, or freedoms (talking jail time here). Now, disobeying authority figures paints you as a free thinker or a trouble maker, take your pick, but it most certainly doesn't reflect on you but rather your parents. In some cases this may be true, given the vast number of single parent homes nowadays, but the fact that society puts the blame everywhere but where it belongs suggests that we have shunted common sense to the corner somewhere. Let's face it folks, if you disobey rules, regulations or laws, the only one who is to blame is you. Yes, you. You are the one who made the choice to do what you did, no one twisted your arm or pointed a gun to your head. You chose to sleep in class. You chose to rob the store. You chose to steal the car. You chose to kill someone. Your choice, no one else's. Now deal with the consequences.

Common sense says that if you do drugs apart from the medically prescribed ones designed to heal or help with healing of your body or an injury that you are going to have bad results. Loss of brain function, loss of (gasp!) common sense, shut down of organs. Keep in mind, again this was your choice....no one else's, so don't blame mom, dad or society if you end up so much of a pickle that you can't function.

Common sense says that if you cannot balance a checkbook, don't try to balance a budget. I'll leave that one at that.

Common sense says that if you have a button pushing issue, stay away from buttons, especially if the instructions are in a language that you don't understand. Just saying....

Common sense says that if you can't control a family in a loving manner, raising them with good morals and values then what makes you think that you can be in a leadership position and have good results there? This too will come home to roost, right on the fact that you can't handle the position any more than a three year old can handle a car. Just can't happen, don't accept the position.

**Whew** Yeah, that was a major rant that I could have gone on more about, but I figured that was enough lambasting for one day.

I really didn't mean to step on toes, this is more of a venting issue for me today as I've seen common sense stepped on, pulverized and tossed out the window so often this week that I finally snapped.

Please enjoy the music while your party is reached.... Oy.

Have a super awesome weekend folks!
