This is the first of I hope many vlogs in conjuction with MamaAlways. Most of them will be Bible based, just letting you know, but I hope they are thought provoking, encouraging, uplifting, perhaps maybe toe-stepping, or all of the above. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Blind. Faith.

  Today I was reading my devotional and part of it was Mark chapter 10, verses 46-52. It is about a man named Bartimaeus.  The story is that Bartimaeus had been blind from birth. In those days, people believed that the parents had sinned, or that the person born with the infirmity committed a sin prior to birth. Kind of extreme on the prior to birth part, if you ask me. However, we have to remember that scientific advances were not as they are now, although the Greeks were pretty knowledgeable about a great deal, but figuring out why a person was blind was not among their skills. Generally, when a person was disabled, or had a disease such as leprosy, they would be found in the market places, temples, or on the side of the roads begging for food or money. I know, we still see that a lot on our street corners, but usually they are not blind or have leprosy. Texas...Together

On August 25th, the Gulf Coast of Texas had a deluge of Biblical proportions. Harvey, a category 4 hurricane, took aim and smashed into Rockport, Corpus Christie, and then made it's way north. Fifty counties, and over 150,000 properties were destroyed or severely damaged according to FEMA. Countless numbers have had their homes swamped with muck, water and mold, rendering the home unfit for living. Entire lifetimes have been washed away...rich, poor, black, white, yellow...it didn't discriminate as far as devastation was concerned. Interstate 69, going from downtown Houston toward Kingwood had their concrete barriers moved blocking all lanes, north and south, by the waters that ran over it. Homes that never, ever flooded, did, and on grand proportions. Livestock had to be herded down the middle of a city street...Horses were evacuated from stables by Cypress Creek. Whatever you do, if it's in Japanese, don't push the button!

I have to tell you that I have a problem. If there is a lever to be pulled or a button to be pushed, I'll volunteer. Especially if its not labeled or is in a foreign language. Its just what I do. I have an inner compulsion to push buttons and pull levers. Call it curiosity or call it a weird obsession, I have to do it. Let me expound. Before my first was born I took time to visit my parents who lived in Tucson at the time. They lived in an adobe brick townhouse that was in a comfortable, not too bad area of town. Of course, anywhere you go in Tucson, you will see what are called security bars on windows and doors even in the best of neighborhoods. In this case, mom and dad had security bars and for me, that was a curiosity in and of itself. One day while I was talking to mom, I noticed a lever on the side of the window.
