Sonic song

You know, sometimes I imagine what your faces must look like when you read the titles to my blogs. This is one such title that I can see eyebrows raised right into your hairline, wondering what on earth am I going to blog about today!

Actually, it's not as weird as the title suggests. But I want to pose a question to you. Do you know you're surrounded by a sonic song? It's true!

Psalm 32 is subtitled The Joy of Forgiveness. It was a song of contemplation from David. We all know that David had his share of interesting events in his life. A shepherd boy who slew a lion and a bear. A boy who was chosen over all of his brothers to be King of Israel. He slew Goliath...a much bigger task than the bear or the lion, no doubt. He survived King Saul's many hissy fits and attempts on his life. Heck, he could have taken Saul's life, probably more than once, but the most well known occurrence was when he took a piece of Saul's robe, then sent a messenger to tell him all about it.
Then, when he became honest-to-goodness, I'm sitting-on-the-throne King, he spotted Bathsheba on the roof next door. The girl should have put up a screen, in my opinion, but, hey...anyway, he put out a hit on Uriah, her husband, took her to be his (one of many) wife, and had a child with her. But, God had something to say about that, and the child died.

I mean, David had a slew of things, major things, to ask forgiveness for. It truly isn't often that all of this kind of stuff occurs in our lives, we're good if we make it to work on time without blowing a gasket while on the freeway. Seriously, David had some issues.

Back to Psalm 32. It starts with this:
1. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

When we accept Jesus as our Savior, the Bible says our sins are covered by His blood that was shed on Calvary.

Verse 5: I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord," and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

David sinned a great deal. He was a man of war, and had taken lives in battle. While that is not a sin, it did stop him from being able to build the Temple of God...his son Solomon was tasked with that.
When he slept with Bathsheba, then had her husband killed, Samuel came by God's command, and confronted David with that sin. David repented and begged God's forgiveness. So many issues, anger, murder, and yet, God forgave it all, because David asked to be forgiven.

In verse 7 of the Psalm, David expresses his joy towards God.
You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.

There it is. The songs that God sings.

Here's something to think about.

God is without time. The concept of time is a man made event. We needed to be able to mark our time here on earth. One cycle of the sun became a day. Seven days, according to the Commandments made a week, and so on.
I am a stay-at-home mom...sometimes the days blend if a constant is not present. Sometimes my husband has to go out of town for work. If he's gone for more than a couple of days, unless I make it a point to mark the days, so to speak, I lose track of what day it is. Sometimes that happens even when he's home.
Sorry, a slight bunny trail there, but only a slight one.
So, God is without time, meaning that He doesn't exist in our concrete,  fleshly world. He is spirit, we, while we do have a spirit, are not...we are mortal, He is immortal. He is Spirit, we are flesh, made from the dust of the earth.
Another thing, there are things we just can't hear. If you're like me, you can't hear high pitched sounds like a mosquito. The animals, the grandkids, you bet they can hear them. The same goes for the sounds in God's "area." The Bible says that there are angels which constantly sing, "Holy, Holy, Holy" around His Throne, but we cannot hear that. We cannot, audibly (think speaking voice, not whispering), hear the Holy Spirit when He speaks to us, but if we're still and silent, we can hear His whisper. The same can be said for the Song that God sings over His Children. We are surrounded by a sonic flood of God's songs...each one new and unique for each of His Children.
Remember when a parent would sing to you at bedtime, or when you needed comforting. Or even the times that your Dad would get goofy and sing to you during play time? Imagine how much more our Heavenly Father sings for us!

Today, if your joy is waning a bit...if you feel like your sins are much more than can be handled, take heart! Your Father in Heaven loves you, He wants you to confess, repent, and to forgive you of your sins, all you have to do is lay them at His feet. Repent of them, and He is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins. He will surround you with songs of Joy, songs of Deliverance...that perhaps may only be heard by the angels right now, but Oh! The joy and beauty of those sonic songs when we get Home!

Have a wonderful week!
